Mayoral Campaign Colleen Echohawk hits $400K fundraising cap, leads with quarter of all Democracy Vouchers submitted so far

Seattle, WA - According to Seattle Ethics and Elections, first-time candidate Colleen Echohawk is the first candidate to hit the $400k fundraising cap for the primary election. The Echohawk campaign received one out of every four Democracy Vouchers received by all candidates running for any office in this year’s elections. In addition, the campaign announced that they received one out of every three vouchers to mayoral candidates.

Colleen Echohawk becomes first Mayoral candidate to Qualify for Democracy Vouchers


Seattle, WA - Colleen Echohawk, candidate for Seattle mayor, announced today that her campaign has qualified for the Democracy Voucher Program with the City of Seattle’s Ethics and Elections Commission (SEEC).

Participating mayoral candidates in the Democracy Voucher Program are required to collect 600 qualifying contributions and signatures from eligible Seattle residents. Echohawk’s campaign collected over 700 signatures and over 650 contributions in the first week alone. Passed by initiative in 2015, the program allows $6.8 million in funding to become available to candidates. This is the first year mayoral candidates are eligible for the Democracy Voucher Program.
